Have you ever noticed how traditional bucket lists tend to focus on grand adventures and impressive achievements? Climb Kilimanjaro (not me ever), learn Italian, swim with dolphins... While these aspirations are wonderful, I'd like to invite you on a different kind of journey—one that nourishes your soul and creates lasting meaning in your everyday life.

As we head into the fresh energy of a new year, it’s time to ditch the old-style bucket list and reimagine what a sparkling new bucket list for the soul might be. Instead of just collecting experiences, we're going to create a soul-nurturing roadmap that brings more joy, purpose and inner peace into your world.

And what’s best is that there’s no setting unrealistic goals or New Year’s resolutions.

BEGINNING WITH THE EVERYDAY MAGIC

Start by finding a quiet moment, perhaps with your favourite cup of tea and a beautiful new journal. Bullet journals are my favourite – no writing between the lines here. Now, here's where we do things differently—instead of reaching for the stars straight away, we're going to begin with the mundane and the ordinary.

Write down everything that bubbles up, no matter how simple it seems. Perhaps you've been yearning to repaint your bedroom in soothing colours or create a little reading space by the window. These seemingly ordinary desires often carry profound meaning: that bedroom colour might represent your need for tranquillity, while the reading space could be your soul's way of asking for more contemplative moments.

MOVING TO THE MATERIAL (BUT MAKE IT MEANINGFUL)

Next, allow yourself to explore material desires but dig deeper into what they represent. That designer handbag you've been eyeing—is it really about the label, or does it symbolise your desire for quality and self-worth? That dream holiday home in the Spanish hills—perhaps it's actually about creating a sanctuary where family bonds can strengthen and memories can bloom.

EMBRACING THE MAGICAL

Now comes the delicious part—let your imagination soar into the magical. This isn't about fantastical thinking; it's about acknowledging your soul's deepest yearnings. Perhaps you dream of writing a children's book that touches young hearts or starting a community garden that brings neighbours together. Maybe you envision hosting weekly dinner parties where deep conversations flow as freely as the wine.

THE HEART CHECK

Here's where we add soul-deep intention to our list. For each item, pause and ask yourself:

·       Does this make my heart sing?

·       How does it contribute to my well-being and happiness?

·       Does it align with my authentic self and values?

·       Could this enable me to be of service to others?

·       Is it grounded in reality while still allowing for magic?

MAKING IT REAL

Choose one or two items that resonate most strongly right now. Write them on separate pieces of paper and hold each one, really feeling into its energy. Trust your intuition here—your body knows which desires are ripe for manifesting. Noticing which hand is calling to you. That’s the one for right now.

Manifesting your heart's desires and your bucket list isn't just about positive thinking; it's about aligned action. Break down your chosen soul goals into small, manageable steps. Want to create a meditation space? Start by clearing a corner and adding a cushion. Dreaming of writing that book? Begin with ten minutes of journaling each morning.

THE QUARTERLY SOUL CHECK

Unlike traditional bucket lists that gather dust, your soul list should be a living document. I recommend a quarterly review—pop it in your diary now. You'll be amazed at how your desires evolve as you grow. Some dreams will fall away naturally, making space for new ones that better align with your journey.

A FINAL NOTE

Most importantly, this isn't about adding pressure or creating another to-do list. Think of it as a love letter to your future self, a gentle guide for creating a life that feels as good on the inside as it looks on the outside. Your soul's bucket list might include things that never make it onto Instagram, and that's perfectly wonderful.

Start today. Take that first step. Pour your heart onto paper and watch as the magic unfolds. After all, the most beautiful journeys are the ones that transform us from within. Wishing you a magical new year and beyond.
