“In the distant mountains surrounding a small village whose name has been forgotten, where the bamboo sways in harmony with the wind, a wise elder gathered the villagers to share a story of the changing times. He spoke of the Dragon of Transformation, whose name was Pluto, journeying into the Realm of Aquarius, the Bearer of Water and the Keeper of the Collective Mind. The elder’s voice flowed like the gentle stream that nourished the rice fields below, full of wisdom and parables for those who wished to listen.
The elder said, “In the days to come, the Dragon of Transformation will awaken the winds that stir the hearts of all. This Dragon has left the forests of Capricorn, where it reshaped the structures of power, and now soars into the vast open skies of Aquarius, seeking not the few, but the many. In its breath lies both destruction and rebirth, and it will breathe upon the Tree of Unity, the ancient tree under which all beings gather.”
The elder told of a flock of sparrows who, for many years, followed the same path across the skies. They flew together out of habit, one behind the other, never questioning, never seeking another way. But as the Dragon’s shadow passed over them, the air changed. The sparrows found that their wings no longer beat in rhythm as before. Some wished to fly to new lands, while others feared the unknown. A great storm arose among them—a storm not of wind and rain, but of ideas and desires. Each sparrow’s song became louder, each voice insisting on its own truth. And so, the old patterns of their flight dissolved.
The elder paused, and then spoke of the Maker of Lanterns, a humble craftsman who lived in a distant village. He spent his days making lanterns for those who travelled through the darkness. The people loved his work, for each lantern was unique, brightening their path through the night. When the Dragon entered Aquarius, the Maker of Lanterns saw the world change around him—the people no longer sought his lanterns, for they had discovered a new light: a light that came from the union of their own hands and minds, a light that required no oil, no wick, but instead was born from their collective genius.

The elder explained that Pluto in Aquarius brings the power of the many and challenges the old ways. The lanterns of yesterday, once cherished, may no longer hold the same value. Instead, the people would learn to create their own light, together. But this new light, born of their collective effort, also held a danger: a light so powerful that it could blind, should it fall into the hands of those who sought control. The Maker of Lanterns realised that his craft was not obsolete, but needed transformation. He began teaching the villagers how to use their light wisely, how to ensure it warmed but did not burn, how it revealed but did not blind.
“The Dragon,” the elder said, “will test humanity’s heart. It will bring forth wonders, technologies that connect every mind, ideas that promise freedom, yet may bind if not handled with care. Just as the sparrows had to learn to fly freely yet together, humanity must learn the balance between individual freedom and collective responsibility. Each must become their own lantern-bearer, but also a keeper of the light for others.”
The villagers listened, imagining the years to come: the disintegration of old towers, where a few ruled from above, and the building of bridges that connected each soul to another. The elder smiled gently and continued, “There will be those who resist, who wish for the old ways where power lay in the hands of the few. And there will be those who seek to break all ties, to be free without considering the others. But the true path forward is like the bamboo grove—each stalk standing tall, yet bending together in the wind, rooted to the earth that nourishes them all.”

The elder finished with a final parable, “Beware of the illusion of power. The Dragon in Aquarius can bring forth a storm, a storm of ideas, of new ways of living, of rebellion against what no longer serves. But true power is not in the storm itself, nor in the force of its winds. True power is in the calm centre, the space where each person’s truth can be heard, where every sparrow finds its own path across the sky, yet none flies alone.”
As the elder’s voice faded, the villagers bowed, understanding that the next twenty years would bring both challenges and opportunities. They would need to find new ways of being, of connecting, and of sharing power. And above all, they would need to remember that, like the bamboo, their strength lay not in resistance, but in Adaptability and Unity.
This beautiful tale poetically speaks volumes about the reality of Pluto in Aquarius for the next 19 years. Finally, this little planet, (disqualified as such and renamed "dwarf planet" by astronomers, yet for Astrology it retains its full name and power), changed signs in 2024, after travelling through Capricorn since 2008. It was strolling between 1 degree of Aquarius and 29 degrees of Capricorn, more or less since 2023, until November 2024.
Looking back, long before a very young American astronomer, Clyde William Tombaugh, discovered Pluto on February 18th 1930 (henceforth it became an archetype, emanating from the name given to it), this little planet was already part of the suburbs of our solar system, though invisible to our eyes. As it takes Pluto about two and a half centuries to make a complete orbit around the Sun or the Zodiac, we can look back in time to see what was happening during its last passage through Aquarius. As we know, times will never be identical to the past, not only because we evolve (even if it may not always be noticeable) but also because we discover new dimensions of our consciousness. Moreover, the sky is never the same.

Even so, last time that Pluto transit through the sign of the "waterbearer", was in 1777 – 1797 while Uranus was in Gemini (as it will be as from July of this year) and Neptune was leaving Virgo to enter Libra opposite (as it will be as from the end of March this year).
The United States declared its independence from England in 1776 under Pluto in Capricorn transitioning to Aquarius, but the Revolutionary War lasted until 1783. In that transition from Capricorn to Aquarius (like today), the Constitution of the United States was established in 1787.
Meanwhile, the French Revolution began in 1789 with the overthrow of the monarchy, the assassination of Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette, the abolition of the feudal system, and the declaration of the “Rights of Man.”
Today, Pluto (wealth, evolution) in Aquarius (group collaboration) has already brought us the most challenging intelligent technology yet, AI. What is already indisputable is that machines are surpassing us by far, to unimaginable extremes. Nowadays, with ChatGPT and all the other language models, we can have conversations, create projects, paintings, videos, and write essays or poetry in less than a minute through these platforms - that only grow richer minute by minute as we use them - all created by Artificial Intelligence. This presents a significant challenge for Education and highlights the need to transform it so that students don’t become disengaged. After all, much of what is still taught in schools and colleges over several years can now be obtained from machines in minutes. It brings to our attention the issue of academic integrity. Who remembers the archaic multiplication tables? Calculators have been doing it for years. Who sits down to calculate an astrological chart? The machine does it in less than a minute. The human brain takes about 25 years to develop to a university level, and the machine only takes a year and a half. The more we use it, the more data it accumulates, the faster and more precisely it works. While they still have accuracy limitations, as we use them, they will be corrected, as that is something they already do automatically: self-correct. If you correct them, they thank you and then proceed to correct themselves. Isn’t it scary? Well, the truth is that if you’re not scared, it’s because you don’t understand these programs.
Yet, this transit of Pluto through Aquarius poses the question: What makes us human? Our curiosity, our ability to fall in love and dedicate ourselves to something or someone, protect and nurture what we love; all these things make us human. Embracing these qualities and using them to guide our actions in the age of technology and collaboration will be crucial in navigating the challenges brought by Pluto in Aquarius. By staying true to our humanity and promoting collaboration and equality, we can work towards a more balanced and just world, where technology serves as a tool for the betterment of all rather than a source of division, danger or extinction.
On a personal level, Pluto’s transit marks a period in your life where you struggle between letting go of the past - of habits, relationships, beliefs, or mentality - to embrace the new (possibly so new that it causes a lot of anxiety). At the collective level, it is obviously our leap towards a Humanity very different from everything we have known. Man will no longer be able to function without the machine, can you imagine yourself without your mobile phone? It is no longer possible.
All the fixed signs: Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius are being called to accept this inevitable process of change, not just any change but an absolute transformation of their lives. If you were born at the end of Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn you have already started the skin shedding; meaning, those changes that you can't stop. And of course, Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces, you already understand the inevitability of adapting to a new way of living. Everyone on this planet will be affected by these extraordinary developments, and the challenges that AI will bring to our lives.
ABOUT CRISTINA LAIRD

Astrology has been a lifelong calling for me, something I’ve felt deeply connected to for as long as I can remember. At 28, I decided to study it seriously and moved to London, where I joined Liz Greene’s Centre for Psychological Astrology (CPA), alongside incredible minds like Howard Sasportas, Nick Campion, and Robert Hand. Here, I found my calling, and eventually I began to explore the intersections of astrology and psychology more deeply in my practice. This realization led me to train intensively in psychotherapy, psychodrama, and psychodance over the next 15 years, eventually adding shamanism to my path which, of course, transformed my approach to the practice of astrology forever.
